Reading Awakened

>> Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Sorry no book give away yet but I am reading again....well sort of reading. It is going to take me longer to get through a book because I am going to use my Audible credits to buy audio books that will be read on the elliptical.  I usually buy nonfiction on audible these days but I have loads of it and quite frankly it is just getting boring.

I have a hard time reading when I work out because trying to keep my heart rate up and balance turning paper or kindle pages can be rather dangerous for me. Then a gain few people manage to trip up stairs and over there own feet so I am sure it is just me. Since I will only have about an hour 2-4 days a week to listen it will take a week or two to finish a book. I started Awakened by P.C. and Kristin Cast today and got in a full hour. Right now I can all I can say I hate Neferet and I really wish they would have started the story with one of the characters on the good team or even Kolona would have been better than.....well you get the picture.

I may be a little more harsh with my reviews because a book read while working out needs to take my mind off the fact that I am working out. I usually watch a good action packed movie or television show and at the gym I take music that will keep me moving. It needs to either motivate me or make it so the time passes without thought. Awakened started out slow but it picked up after the first thirty minutes and kept my attention.

That means the book reviews around here are really going to change if a book is really boring I might just say so and move on to another book. I might be giving snippets of reviews to come and I might very well have to give a listen to some books I have already read or listened to so I can get a review out. I know for sure that I have a few I have listened to and not reviewed.

I am really excited about reading again and hope to bring you at least 2 book reviews a month. I know it isn't like it used to be but maybe I will get to the point where I can get one a week again soon. Thanks to all my readers who support me!

New addition, Moved and ....

>> Tuesday, September 20, 2011

We moved and that took a lot of my time and energy and left me feeling crippled for a few days. Then of course a ton of little things went wrong with the house and we met the new addition to our household as well. One of those days that life seemed like it kept thumping me on the head with a baseball bat a young orange kitty started hanging around. I was out on the porch and it crawled right up in my lap and promptly fell asleep. Being a dog love I thought I was immune to the charm of a cat until I met this one.

It took me some time to get my hubby to let me keep it but now even though he pretends to not like it he loves the little guy too. We can't seem to agree on a name so maybe you all could help us. It is a male kitty the vet says about 4 months old. Everyone seems to think he was owned before because he is very friendly and he really wanted in the house. He is very calm and gentle when picked up. He was like the sunshine in my day as everything around me went wrong. Each time I went outside he would come up and take a quick nap on my lap until I brought him in. He still takes naps on my lap but he has about 10 or so other good napping places now. I am happy to have him in the house and safe and Asuka (our German shepherd dog) is starting to get used to him. We are just working on the don't chase when the kitty runs part.

Other than that now that things are looking a little smoother with the house and the animals now I have an open house I put together with 7 vendors including myself coming up October 1st and job training for an at home customer service job starting on the 29th. So things are looking busy for me but if I can get some Herbalife and Avon sales the open house will be well worth it.  The only problem is I am sick right now bad cold/sinus thing. I have a ton I need to do but my mind won't focus for very long.

The Crimson Pact

>> Sunday, July 31, 2011

Just a few days ago I started reading this book. It is a delightful collection of stories full of magic and excitement. I just wanted to let you know I am reading and so far this one is great so don't wait for a complete review to check it out.

I don't know what is going on here but my schedule has been kind of crazy most days then when I get a day to relax and do something I want to do I get a freaking headache. I will be back soon as my schedule all but clears up magically after August 6th. Thanks to all of you who have stuck it out with me!

Vampires, Witches or Wolves

>> Wednesday, July 13, 2011

I have to say I used to love a great vampire book. I started reading fiction again because of the great vampire books I stumbled across. I love the Sookie Stackhouse books and some of the Twilight books are not too bad. The House of Night series was full of exciting twists and turns despite the unlikable teenagers.

Things went on like this and then I picked up some fantasy books that included werewolves or witches as the main characters and even the Charlaine Harris novels took started to focus on a supernatural world not just vampires.

I have grown particularly fond of shape-shifter stories especially that of wolves. I am not sure what it is that makes me crave a good story with a person who can become a wolf or in some cases a lion or coyote. A few witches and some exceptional vampires catch my attention and keep it but it is the wolf that I really enjoy. Maybe it is just because I love these beautiful creatures or just because I am a dog person...who knows?

So what type of book do you prefer?
