Update 6-11-09

>> Thursday, June 11, 2009

Well I do feel okay today. I am taking a few products from the health food store, a probiotic and licorice tablets. I am on my second day with no Prilosec and I feel okay. Last time on my second day I was dying, so I take that as a good sign.

I asked for prayer as well, and I do believe that plus eating well and the pills are going to help me make it through. Good news the half a pound is gone too.

I stepped up my exercise to 3 miles on the treadmill in the morning and so far I still feel okay. I was doing about 2-2.5 in an hour before. I have to be careful or my hip tells me that I can't work out for a few days. I need to keep working out 5+ days a week.

I have a ton of weeding to get to this weekend but I do hope to finish another book. I will look for a short one instead of starting the next Cassandra Palmer book. I have noticed those just get thicker and thicker. That way next week I can have at least two reviews.

Now that I am all caught up on book reviews I am going to also work on more supernatural creature profiles and maybe try some more Tuesday Teasers and Thursday 13 posts. I would love to hear your suggestions, what would my readers like to hear about?

Getting off Prilosec for Good

>> Wednesday, June 10, 2009

I am not going to take this drug anymore if I have to I will be drinking straight apple cider vinegar but I am so not taking this drug anymore. I have found articles from years ago, studies done in other countries that linked these types of drugs to hip fractures.

Sorry in advance that this post is not my best writing, I am just frustrated all around frustrated.

Also websites that have hundreds of people in the same boat I am in now with weight gain. I just kept thinking that I was getting older and that is why a 1500 calorie or less diet and regular workouts (60-90 minutes on the treadmill before I broke my hip) were not working. Not only was I not loosing weight with a good work out 3-5 days or more a week but I was putting weight on. After I broke my hip I gave up and gained about 20 more pounds. This week I have cut my calories in half and worked out as hard as someone recovering from a hip fracture can and have gained a half a pound. My highest calorie day was around 1400 calories and my treadmill has said I burned at least 200 those calories a day. I don't want to starve myself but I just can't take this weight anymore. I also am having a hard time with the frustration of working so hard to loose weight with no results.

I am actually starting to believe that there is some sort of conspiracy going on. What I do know for sure is that doctors are ignoring their patients. Why? I don't know maybe they think we are all stupid because we don't have medical degrees. Maybe the drug companies have paid them to keep their mouth shut. Maybe they are afraid to admit their own ignorance. I am done believing everything they say like they are the gods of our bodies and health.

What really makes me mad is I keep reading about people who have had many symptoms from these types of drugs and I keep hearing the same thing about doctors. If I were a doctor I would want to know why so many of my patients complained of adverse side effects of this drug. I would want to research it more and I most certainly would not tell a patient with osteoporosis or history of hip fracture that it was harmless!

I am posting this letting you know if I am not around for a few days it is because I feel like crap trying to get myself off this drug. I should have a new review up soon for the Cassandra Palmer book I just finished and possibly one for The Narrative, by Fredrick Douglas.

I will leave you with links to a few good articles for anyone taking or considering taking any Proton Pump Inhibitors

Why You Should Never Take Prilosec OTC to Remain Heartburn Free
By simply reducing your levels of stomach acid by way of taking Prilosec or other proton pump inhibitors, you may be setting yourself up for a whole host of other health problems.

Popular Acid Reflux Medications May Be Unsafe
Doctors may prescribe popular medications like Nexium, or patients may pick over-the-counter Prilosec as their solution. But there are some in the medical community that don't see these medications as good for your health.

Now I am just mad about my hip!

>> Monday, June 8, 2009

Look at this link, the x-ray looks just like mine

The more I read the more I know these companies are trying to cover up results that they have known about for a long time.

I have 4 screws and a plate in me just like the picture. I am not old enough to have a broken hip. I was active before I broke my hip and this has limited me.

I am going to be calling my doctor and letting her know maybe she shouldn't be telling people this drug is safe. I can not belive that they didn't know this and what makes me even more mad is they never, never told me that my body would have a hard time coming off the medication. They said it was safe to take FOREVER. I may be looking for a lawer too if there is no class action suit maybe I should be the cover story for one!

If you can't tell I am mad, I have weaned myself off of the anxiety medicine they gave me to help me with the extreme stress I was experiencing. Most of those issues are over but I am having less difficulty getting off this medication than I am with getting off the Prilosec. It could just be that I knew I had to have a plan to get off the anxiety medication and took it very slow. I went to the health food store to get some natural help to cleanse my body of the toxins from the birth control I was on and all the other medicine. I also got licorice tablets which are supposed to soothe the stomach. I am taking probiotics again and a half a Prolosec for this week. Then next week a half every other day. I will evaluate what next from there.

I have been working out but I added 15 minutes to my treadmill time for an hour 3-5 days a week, and a few daily strength training exercises. I have lost 4 pounds in about a week. Due to several days I could barely eat because of the heartburn that nearly had me in tears. That gave me the jump start I needed to eat smaller meals and more natural foods. I am going to try eating some vegetarian meals a few days a week. I can not wait until I am off all my medications.

Seriously if any one hears about a class action suit against these companies please please let me know.
