Selling Tons of Books

>> Wednesday, June 9, 2010

I am selling most of my fiction books at a garage sale in a few weeks. It is like ripping my fingernails off to give up these books. I have decided to keep The Fey books and the Denver Cereal books by Claudia Hall Christian. Then I decided to keep the books in the Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs series and the Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews series.

I am going to keep and continue to collect the books above and everything else will be sold. I know I will eventually read these books again as I really like the characters in each of them. There is also something to be said about the actual amount of sex in these books. They might have some steamy scenes but the have a lot more romantic tension than all our sex scenes. While I like a well placed steamy scene I could do without half a book of pornographic material. It is not to say that I don't like some books that have a lot of sex in them but I seem to prefer more action and less sex or even just more character development.

I have a library that I can walk to in less than five minutes and I am going to start using it. I am going to sell the books I have not read as I read them. I will review them and then sell them on Ebay. I am such a book hoarder that I am even having trouble picking and choosing the non-fiction that I want to sell. Most of which I have not picked up in years.

I tend to read though them and put them back on the shelf. Which is another reason I am going to use the library from now on. I made a trip to the library about 2 weeks ago and I have quickly read through the books a few of the books that interested me and I skipped the parts that were not of interest to me. I didn't feel bad about skipping the parts that were not of concern to me in these nonfiction books because I didn't buy them. I have previously bought gardening books (or something similar) and found only a few chapters are useful to me as I am stuck with a small garden and just landscaping for the most part. From now on it will be the library first and the bookstore if I find one that I really would like to buy.
