Book Review: Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs

This Dark Novel was excellent and it was my first fiction audio book. I usually save the rating for last but I have to give it the full five stars right off the starting line.
This is a spin off from the Mercy Thompson series, but you don't need to read it first to get the gist of the book. It mostly takes place in Bran's Pack, he is the Marrok. He sends his son Charles to deal with some business that comes up in the Chicago pack and it ends up a blood bath. Charles finds Anna and is instantly in love with her.
This book is switches between perspectives quite a bit so you get to see Anna and Charles as they try to work out their feelings for each other. Anna has been severely abused in her old pack because she is an Omega and they didn't want her to know her power. Anna has some real trust issues and Charles spends a lot of time trying to figure them out.
I think maybe I loved this book because unlike the Mercy Thompson series there is more of a love story here. Not like a romance novel with tons of sex, like rough man and a hurt woman trying to make something work.
Charles is his fathers enforcer, people are afraid of him. He tries to make sure Anna is not afraid of him, he longs for her to trust him. He feels different with her.
Anna was made a werewolf, and raped and beaten by her pack. She was kept in line by those who had power over her. She really likes Charles but she doesn't know what to do about it she feels like running away.
The story behind the love story is something of a mystery. People are being killed in the woods and their injuries say werewolf. It doesn't seem to be anyone in Bran's pack so Anna and Charles go into the woods to investigate. They run into more trouble than they had planned for but you will have to read it to find out more.
